workshops Workshops For Educators, Formal and Informal

The second week of November is Earthquake Awareness Week. We will be hosting several workshops during this week and throughout the year. We hope you will join us at one or more events. Keep checking this site for upcoming events.

During our workshops, participants learn by doing engaging hands-on, inquiry-based science activities about movement of the Earth’s plates, energy release, and wave propagation. Seismic hazards are investigated using historical, geographic, and scientific inquiries and finally, participants learn about locating, measuring and predicting earthquakes. All of the activities in this session aid educators in meeting multiple national education standards including portions of the following; National Science Education Standards, Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, and National Geography Standards.

This upcoming summer and fall, SCEEP will offer formal and informal education workshops similar to those above.
