CSHACe Organizational Structure

CSHACe members can participate in one of five working groups.

Primary Data Acquisition
The Primary Data Acquisition Working Group is responsible for assessing the available data and developing a list of data sets that still need to be acquired. This group will be tasked with looking at how to acquire the data that is needed to meet the consortium goals. Collaborative efforts amongst consortium members has been identified as the priority method for data acquisition (first meeting of this group Nov. 2004).

Data Analysis
The Data Analysis Working Group is tasked with developing and implementing techniques of data analysis for deriving earth properties information from the primary data. This working group will form in the spring of 2005.

Hazard Analysis and Mapping
The Hazard Analysis and Mapping Working Group is tasked with the use of the data developed by the first two working groups. The Consortium members are encouraged to use GIS-based technologies for both the hazard analysis and the mapping components of the CSHACe program.

Data Dissemination
The Data Dissemination Working Group is tasked with creating a data directory of data sets controlled by each of the consortium members, archiving orphaned data sets, maintaining the CSHACe website and developing and maintaining a CSHACe Internet Mapping Website.

Public Education and Outreach
The Public Education and Outreach Working Group is tasked with creating a portal to educational materials on the following areas: General earthquake information, Earthquake emergency preparedness, The Charleston 1886 earthquake, and current research on the Charleston Seismic Region. This Group will also be responsible for creating an on-line library archive of all CSHACe publications and news releases by and aboutconsortium members.
